Possible Context of Images

After finishing the images, I really had to consider where they could possibly be displayed. It was after looking into the news article of Hannah Dale in the book that i realised there was a still existent pub renown for the history of Hannah Dale. The Ash Inn Mow Cop supposedly being the place that kept some of her belongings and news articles still to this day. I thought this would be a great place to put the imagery. A lot of the time in pubs, people don’t really acknowledge the art. With my work having quite a diverse and eye catching style with its vibrant colours and shapes, I thought this would be a great place to put my work (with permission) to bring to focus and force questioning. This would hopefully bring up the discussion of Hannah Dale in the pub and allow people almost like Folk law to discuss the stories, thus keeping them alive.

I emailed the owner Michael Crisp on the page. He was quick to respond and after the deadlines of January I will be revisiting my home town to put the frames up in the pub. I want to donate the art work as I believe it will give me a lot of advertisement with them allowing me to put a plaque also on the piece with my name.

As an illustrator, after creating your images it is always good to look at where your work would possibly belong. Here I arranged some scenarios both that would give my work more value, or would actually effect the image.

Great places for my illustrations would be anywhere that involved pottery, such as antiques, antique cafe’s. Even making them a small size to fit with ceramic collector dressers to add more of a provenance and meaning to their ceramics already. With this in mind, I hope to further understand my target audience and build a relationship with them to know on what will and will not work,

I think bad places to put my work would be White walled galleries. Although a contemporary necessity, and i agree would add focus to the work, I believe without the surroundings of ceramics the work would loose all context and the images would just become an illustration rather than the formulation of connectivity of painterly narrative and ceramic figurines.I do believe for my images to be most successful, they need to be in the company of ceramic figures for context.screen shot 2019-01-06 at 19.43.09screen shot 2019-01-06 at 19.34.26
